In general, every cadet will be given opportunities to fly during their time as an active member of 888 Squadron.

Shooting

Cadets at all levels of the Air Training Corps have the opportunity to participate in the sport of rifle shooting. Since the ATC was originally a recruiting organisation for the Royal Air Force it made good sense for marksmanship to be on the training syllabus. Shooting remains one of the most popular cadet activities.

Cadets can achieve a range of awards for their effort if they are really good at shooting they may recieve one of the awards listed below. The Marksmanship Scheme allows cadets to gain marksman badges regardless of the rifles available to them. The four levels of qualification are Squadron, Wing, Region and Corps Marksman. The scheme requires cadets to progress from basic grouping practices, the foundation of good shooting, through to deliberate, rapid and snap shooting practices. These last three types require cadets to to be trained to be able to zero their rifles correctly.
