Oldbury Cadets Attend Remembrance Parade!
On Sunday 8th July, 15 Cadets and 3 Staff attended Oldbury British Legion's "Dedcation Of remembrance Garden" Parade. The 15 cadets turned out impecably dressed and joined in with dignitaries and guests in a formal event to dedicate a new memorial garden for those who died in the many wars the U.K forces have fought in. After the formal parade, including the ceremonial lowering of the standards and 'The Ode', Cadets were invited to attend a function at the Royal British Legion Concert Room, where Cadets joined in the entertainment by taking an active part in the Karoke.
'Its was very memorable' Said Cdt Brookes, 'It's a day i wont forget'. Oldbury British Legion, and 888 (Oldbury) Squadron Padre Rev. John Barnett said that he was 'very proud of the squadron, both in their turnout in numbers, and their extremely smart dress'. He told 888sqn.org.uk, 'It's good to be associated with such a smart squadron, and they especially impressed the Legion with their brilliant singing in the Karoke'.
'The squadrons community involvement is one of our main priorities' said Squadron Commander Flt.Lt Elwell, 'and this kind of event truly shows our commitment to the local area'. 888 (Oldbury) Squadron attends all local events, and 888 will also display a major presence at St Marks Church Parade on September 9th.
